Hi Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of inspirational quotes. I like the one from Dr. Susan about one must start early and especially around the first three years of a child's life to get them to recognize sounds (vocabulary). I know this is true and with all four of my children I began at birth because they still can recognize a mother's voice and their smell. In my opinion, one should start early reading to their baby and just talking with them and this will help start the learning process.
Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteI fully understand how important it is to have a teacher who is well qualified, has the knowledge and judgment to make good decisions as to be a benefit to the children whom they teach. Thank you for the quote "Children benefit most from teachers who have the skills, knowledge, and judgment to make good decisions and are given the opportunity to use them." Dr. Susan Bredekamp, NAEYC, I am one of those teachers; it is nice to be recognized.
Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite quote that you have posted today is Dr. Bredecamp's on the benefit's of good teachers to children. I have to say that if I had to pick one skill as the most important from those listed it would be judgment. I have met people who have the education and information but lack the judgment and sense of what to do with it. Working with children and their families is so important, being aware of our potential impact is critical. Our decisions can cause harm as easily as they can be positive. I appreciate your research.
